mulling the options
I made these 3 crow-house mixed media pieces a few months ago and they've been sitting in my studio ... languishing.
There is nothing inherently wrong with them.
But.
They do not make me sing.
Interestingly they were all re-do's of other mixed media pieces that I never liked. The size 8x10 has always been problematic for me. Too "meh". Not enough space vs too much space. Or something.
Problem is I'm not sure what to do next.
So. Do you like them as is? Or do they need a little sumthin sumthin? Your input please ...

I like them a lot already but I do see what ya mean about not quite there yet. My first reaction: those birds each need an eye. Why? because there is no where for MY eye to rest, or to focus on [pun intended]. Could be creepy type eyes - or could be made with objects totally un-eye like. Next thought is maybe they each need one more texture / or material added to surface ... maybe organic like wood, or bone, shell, gem, dunno. They do feel a little ****calm**** coming from you ;>)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input, Miss Sweetpea ... gotta say I snorted with that last sentence! ;)
DeleteI like them as they are but I wonder if you'd like them more if you added some texture/sparkle/whatever to the crows to make them pop more. Since they're silhouettes now, they're kind of receding compared to the found objects around them.
ReplyDeleteYah. it seems the camps are just about divided with 'leave'em' and 'something about those birds'. Still can't quite get my head around it but I'm thankful for wonderful input like your's! :D
DeleteI think they are great just as they are!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence Carol! :D
DeleteUh, I love them as they are. I think they need to be rehomed to me. hahhaahahaha fly to me my ravens. :) They are spectacular.
